To adopt a dog, you will need to fill out an application and arrange for a volunteer to interview you i n your home. Please refer to our Online Application. All application information will be verified.

Our evaluation process stems from our desire that your new family member meet your expectations as closely as possible. We place Border Collies only into good, loving homes and we screen prospective adopters thoroughly.

An adoption fee of $200.00 is required when you adopt a Border Collie. This fee helps to cover our costs which includes all basic and emergency veterinary expenses.

Basic medical care provided, all listed dogs are spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated and heartworm free and on preventive. Due to the recent increase of incoming dogs with Hip Dysplasia, we have elected to include a veterinary screening for this with all of our dogs. All dogs have been microchipped for their safety should they be lost or stolen.

An executed adoption contract is required for all adoptions. This contract is legal and binding. Please read it carefully.

"Activity Level" Categories: The following categories primarily refer to an individual dog's need for activity. Use them to locate listed dogs that fit your lifestyle and expectations. Please keep in mind that Border Collies as a breed are considered to be more athletic and energetic than most.
Special Needs -- A dog which needs frequent medication and/or an owner that will keep them physically fit while also paying attention to any signs that they may be suffering from some pain. Companion -- A dog satisfied with short walks and retrieval games. Needs substantial interaction but low to moderate exercise. Active Companion -- A dog satisfied with daily long walks and retrieval games. Needs substantial interaction and exercise, but not necessarily formal training or competition. Sports Competitor -- Dog displays intense herding instinct and some talent, which may need to be channeled into work or other intense, continuous activity. Dog may need competition or formal training to challenge their higher drive and energy level.

Keno

Keno is a border collie/possible mix found near a creek in a rural North Texas area along with his presumed littermates late August, early September 2017. He is a very smart and very energetic young dog. He is crate trained, bears watching indoors in regard to house training, and loves to learn and perform tricks for treats.

Keno has been living with several other dogs and gets along with all of them, young and old, large and small - from chihuahua & Pekingese to other border collies and a couple of pit bulls, ages 4 yrs to 16 yrs. He loves to play with the other dogs! He has been exposed to cats, is curious about them, hasn’t chased any and doubtful that he would attack one. He’s a lover, not a fighter. He has not been tested with children, but due to his boisterous high energy, he would be best with older children and adults.

Keno is currently enrolled in a basic obedience class, still needs work with leash training, but’s sits, downs and “looks” (watch me) on command. The tricks he knows are spin (clockwise), twist (spins counterclockwise), give his paw and roll over. His stay is getting better.. He likes to jump up and paw with his front feet, so we are working on the “off” command and using his “sit” to get attention and treats. Any training needs to be very upbeat and positive.

Due to his high energy and need for mental and physical exercise, his foster mom thinks Keno would do well in a dog sports home that would pursue agility or flyball with him. A pet home would need to spend a lot of time with him as a running buddy, after more leash training, and spending a lot of time playing with him.

Keno is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $200.00, an approved adoption application from BCRT, and a home visit are required. He is being fostered in the Dallas area.

If you'd like to meet Keno, please contact Keno's foster mom at BCRTx or if you would like to meet Keno please fill out the BCRT Adoption Application.

Pyro

Pyro is approx. 7 years old, neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and on heartworm and flea prevention. He originally came from a hoarding situation as a young adult. As a result of this he is wary of new situations and people at first, but warms up quickly. He is a sweet goofy boy who would do best as an only dog or with a low key female dog. He loves to play ball and splash in the water, but will also cuddle. He thinks kitties are a little too interesting so a home without cats is preferred.

If you think we’d be a good match, you can contact my foster mom at BCRTx or if you would like to meet me please fill out the BCRT Adoption Application.

Angel

Angel is a border collie mix that was pulled from the swampy woods with a severe skin issue from demodectic mange and very underweight. She had been dumped, shot at, and living on her own for well over 6 months as evident by her condition; she still loved people and wanted only to have someone care about her. Altho she is over a year old she is very much a puppy. Angel loves to dig, to run, to play with her jolly ball, play with other dogs, and would love a family to keep her safe, spend their time with her taking hikes, going to classes that teach Barn Hunt, tracking, Rally, any kind of nose work, tricks, therapy work, just anything that gives her time with her family. The favorite toy for her is her jolly ball, all other things that make it into her mouth will be chewed to pieces. Cats nor small critters (caged birds, chickens, rabbits, hamsters, etc) should not be in the household or on the property. She will do well with another male dog that plays well with her.

Angel enjoys her humans, eating bananas, eating cheerios, just sharing life with you. She is heartworm negative and on prevention, on flea and tick prevention, up-to-date with all recommended vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, working on housebreaking, cleared of all mange with a beautiful coat that will get thicker and shinier with good nutrition. She is crated at night and whenever we leave, due to her crazy puppy behavior. This girl has so much potential in the right home. Because of her youth and size, no small children in the family. All training has been positive and patient.

Please fill out the BCRT Adoption Application if you would like to know more about Angel and potentially adopt her. Her adoption fee is $200.00. She lives in a foster home in SouthWest Louisiana almost at the TX border. A home visit will be done.

Belle

Belle is a young Border Collie mix who was rescued from a rural area in North Texas. She is tall and has a slender build. Her body is mostly white with freckles with a few large black spots. She has a mostly black head with a narrow white blaze. Her ears haven’t quite decided whether to stand up or not. She has beautiful brown eyes and an intense expression.

She is very responsive to her foster mother, although she would benefit from attending a basic manners class to help her learn loose leash walking, to help her with jumping, and other basics. Belle enjoys playing with the other foster dogs and is even gentle with a young puppy in the foster home. She has not been tested around cats. She is spayed, current on all vaccinations, and is current on heartworm preventive. She tested negative for heartworms.

An adoption fee of $200.00 and an approved Adoption Application are required for adoption. All references will be checked and a home visit will be conducted. Belle is fostered in the Dallas area.

If you have a place in your heart and home for a girl like this, please contact BCRTx or if you would like to meet Belle, please fill out the BCRT Adoption Application.

Brooke

Brooke is a sweet Border Collie mix who was rescued along with her presumed littermates a few months ago near a creek in a rural area in North Texas.

Brooke is crate-trained and housetrained. She is a bit shy and submissive, especially in new situations, but craves affection. She will benefit from attending a basic manners class to work on leash walking, jumping, and other basic behaviors. She seems eager to please. She absolutely loves playing with toys, and likes to shred stuffed toys. She usually tries to find a toy to take outside in her mouth when she goes outside. Occasionally, she has grabbed something that is not a dog toy, so her foster mom has to watch to make sure she doesn’t take something she should not have.

One of her favorite things to do is to take a dip in the washtub that is kept on the deck outside her foster home for the dogs. She will even do this in relatively cold weather. She will need close supervision in her new home until she learns what is and is not appropriate for her to chew on. A crate will be a useful tool for the times when her new family cannot directly supervise her.

Brooke has been cared for in a multi-dog household and she enjoys playing with other dogs. She often plays tug of war over a toy with one of her housemates. She is spayed, is current on all vaccinations and has been on heartworm preventive since she came into foster care. She tested negative for heartworms.

An adoption fee of $200.00 and an approved Adoption Application are required for adoption. All references will be checked and a home visit will be done.

If you have a place in your heart and home for a girl like this, please contact BCRTx or if you would like to meet Brooke, please fill out the BCRT Adoption Application. Brooke is being fostered in the Dallas area.

Rain

Rain is a Border Collie mix who was rescued along with his presumed littermates a few months ago near a creek in a rural area in North Texas. Rain is crate-trained and housetrained.

Rain is very energetic and enjoys playing outdoors. He will often position himself on top of a bench or an old tree stump at the foster home where he can watch for squirrels. He will stay in this position for some time. Cats would probably not be a good idea in Rain’s home, as he seems to have a high predatory drive.

Rain will benefit from attending a basic manners class to work on leash walking, jumping, and other basic behaviors. He seems eager to please. Like his sister Brooke, Rain also likes to take an occasional dip in the washtub, although he is not as obsessed with this as Brooke is.

Rain will need close supervision in his new home until he learns what is and is not appropriate for him to chew on. A crate will be a useful tool for the times when his new family cannot directly supervise him.

Rain has been cared for in a multi-dog household and he enjoys playing with other dogs, especially females. He often plays tug of war over a toy with one of his housemates. Rain is neutered, is current on all vaccinations and has been on heartworm preventive since he came into foster care. He tested negative for heartworms.

An adoption fee of $200.00 and an approved Adoption Application are required for adoption. All references will be checked and a home visit will be done. Rain is fostered in the Dallas area.

If you have a place in your heart and home for a boy like this, please contact BCRTx or if you would like to meet Rain, please fill out the BCRT Adoption Application.

Sam

Sam is approximately 3 years old. He is a beautiful tri-colored Border Collie or Border Collie mix, possibly mixed with Australian Shepherd.

Sam came to us after he was found by a citizen in Dallas and turned over to Dallas Animal Services. He had an injured right rear leg and was in a great deal of pain. It is assumed he had been hit by a car. The vet at the shelter had no option but to amputate his leg in order to relieve his suffering. He was not reclaimed by his owner, so he came to BCRT.

His incision is healed and he doesn’t seem to even miss his leg. He can keep up with the other dogs at the foster home when playing and running in the yard. He enjoys playing with the other dogs in the foster home. He also enjoys chasing squirrels. A cat would probably not be a good idea for Sam’s home due to his predatory drive. He enjoys walking in the neighborhood on leash and has made many friends. He has a great temperament and could possibly even become a therapy dog if he receives training. He is crate trained. He has been neutered and is current on all vaccinations and on heartworm preventive. He tested negative for heartworms.

An adoption fee of $200.00 and an approved Adoption Application are required for adoption. All references will be checked and a home visit will be conducted.

If you have a place in your heart and home for a handsome, affectionate boy like this, please contact BCRTx or if you would like to meet Sam, please fill out the BCRT Adoption Application.

Sofia

Sofia is a sweet young Border Collie mix who is still a puppy. She was picked up as a stray in Dallas and taken to Dallas Animal Services. She had an injured left front foot. X-rays showed that it was an old injury with transverse fractures of all her metacarpals. The bones had calcified where the fractures had occurred, making it impossible to surgically repair the foot.

After obtaining an evaluation from an orthopedic veterinarian, a decision was made that it was in Sofia’s best interests to have her leg amputated at the shoulder, as her foot seemed to be causing her to be in pain. Sofia had surgery to amputate her leg on December 21, 2017. Almost immediately, she seemed to be pain free. Her incision has now healed and she plays and runs with the other dogs in the foster home with no problem. She is a very sweet girl, loving and affectionate. She is still a puppy and needs to learn basic manners in a positive training class. She has not been tried around cats.

Her x-rays showed staples in her abdomen from a previous spay surgery, so she is already spayed. She is current on all vaccinations and on heartworm preventive. She tested negative for heartworms.

Here is a short video clip of Sofia playing with a puppy in the foster home.

If Sofia sounds like she would be a good match for you, please contact browniedriver@yahoo.com. Sofia is fostered in the Dallas area If Sofia sounds like she would be a good match for you, please contact BCRTx or if you would like to meet Sofia, please fill out the BCRT Adoption Application.
