To adopt a dog, you will need to fill out an application and arrange for a volunteer to interview you i n your home. Please refer to our Online Application. All application information will be verified.

Our evaluation process stems from our desire that your new family member meet your expectations as closely as possible. We place Border Collies only into good, loving homes and we screen prospective adopters thoroughly.

An adoption fee of $200.00 is required when you adopt a Border Collie. This fee helps to cover our costs which includes all basic and emergency veterinary expenses.

Basic medical care provided, all listed dogs are spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated and heartworm free and on preventive. Due to the recent increase of incoming dogs with Hip Dysplasia, we have elected to include a veterinary screening for this with all of our dogs. All dogs have been microchipped for their safety should they be lost or stolen.

An executed adoption contract is required for all adoptions. This contract is legal and binding. Please read it carefully.

"Activity Level" Categories: The following categories primarily refer to an individual dog's need for activity. Use them to locate listed dogs that fit your lifestyle and expectations. Please keep in mind that Border Collies as a breed are considered to be more athletic and energetic than most.
Special Needs -- A dog which needs frequent medication and/or an owner that will keep them physically fit while also paying attention to any signs that they may be suffering from some pain. Companion -- A dog satisfied with short walks and retrieval games. Needs substantial interaction but low to moderate exercise. Active Companion -- A dog satisfied with daily long walks and retrieval games. Needs substantial interaction and exercise, but not necessarily formal training or competition. Sports Competitor -- Dog displays intense herding instinct and some talent, which may need to be channeled into work or other intense, continuous activity. Dog may need competition or formal training to challenge their higher drive and energy level.

Haley is microchipped, current on vaccinations and is on heartworm preventative. She is a lovely retired girl who used to work sheep when she was younger. Because of her stockdog training, she has a wonderful “lie down” and recall when out playing or on walks. Her previous owner was paralyzed in an accident and can no longer care for her. She’s very sweet and is looking for a family to share her golden years. She’s in very good health and adores toys, nylabones, antlers and playing fetch with balls and Frisbees.

She stays near her people in the house, but often finds a good spot to chew on her nylabones, relax or take a nap. Every once in a while, she will be a bit mischievous as many border collies are, and chew on something random if left out of place. Her teeth are a bit worn down from years of playing with tennis balls. She would love to have her own supply of antlers or nylabones to keep her busy and satisfied.

Haley is best kept crated when nobody is home but is a wonderful companion around the house. At night, she finds a comfortable rug or dog bed and is quite trustworthy. She will quickly take care of personal business if you have a fenced yard, but is definitely and going to be a full time indoor dog now that she is retired and fond of air conditioning!

Just because Haley is 10 years old, she is still a wonderful walking and fetching partner! She has the heart of a youngster when it comes to ball and Frisbee games and would keep up with most older children. She gets along with dogs and people. She has not been tested with indoor cats. She travels very well in a car crate and jumps up into the car on her own.

Haley is currently in the Houston area. If you think you could share this wonderful sweet and playful senior’s love of life, please fill out the BCRT adoption application.
